No More Masks!
It’s official! No more masks. We started this week on Monday, the 14th of March back to normal. When I ran out this morning to get a baguette in my sports clothes, I felt a bit naked. I think I almost enjoyed the fact that at times, no one could see my face. LOL. The mask was sometimes a very good solution to the no-makeup moments in public. What about the mask being worn just under the chin to be ready to put on correctly once in a shop? I think this was actually a good way of hiding my double chin. I am laughing about it but it really has been quite a time.
I can’t believe that 2 years have come and gone and all that we lived through. Endless lockdowns, cancelled outings, parties that were just dreamed about and now it’s over. We did it!
After almost exactly 2 years since we were forced to cover our faces, we were now back in full view. It actually feels strange. Even my 18 year old daughter told me that she thought she’d still wear a mask while in stores and public places. I was so surprised to hear this. She was very resistant in the early days of Covid and did not like wearing the mask, I realized after her comment that, in fact, it’s been a long time since I had to remind her to wear her mask correctly. I think she figured it out on her own at some point. After the first day of no masks, she came home from school and said how strange it felt but even more, was how quiet it was at school. She said that there was no more reminding students constantly to put their masks on. “Over your nose, cover your mouth, etc.”). They have become used to it and she said it felt more relaxed.
We are happy to feel free again and it is quite strange to discover what was, in fact behind the mask. I went into my local pharmacy the other day and I didn’t recognize any of the people behind the counter. I knew the hair and the voices but their appearance had completely changed. It is a whole new world out there and it feels good to be free again.
