Essaouira is not to be missed. Out of all of the cities that I went to in Morocco, , I would say that this place has the most laid-back vibe. There is a bit of a hippie feel to this seaside town. There were a lot of surfers and you could feel that Essaouira is a hot spot for foreigners. Don’t let that put you off because that also made it feel very comfortable. The town, itself, is very cute and has all of the things that we love about Morocco (souks, restaurants, etc.). I found the people in the souks to be very relaxed and it is a welcome change after a few days in Marrakech where you just want to take a nap once you’ve finally bargained for your precious items. Here, it is different. They let you look, they smile, and don’t make you feel like you’ve ripped them off if you don’t buy something from them. It is a very pleasant atmosphere and I also feel that what is on offer in Essaouira is very nice. They have a large selection of textiles, clothes, and decor. I found the markets here easier to shop and that there is an abundance of choice. You will find many nice places to eat and after you will really enjoy walking around and taking in the atmosphere

I think that it is absolutely worth while to come and spend a day or two here. Many people like to do a day trip from Marrakesh but I think it’s just a little too far and it’s also somewhere that you will enjoy spending a couple of days. It’s relaxing and you will feel like you’re on vacation here.
