A Drive in the Country

It is cold here at the moment and I’ve been having trouble getting myself out and about for my usual walks. I am a bit of a wimp, admittedly, and my walking pals are out of town at the moment. Instead of feeling stuck inside, I decided to go for a drive. There are so many beautiful towns around here to discover and this is the way to do it.

Today, I decided to drive to Pertuis. It’s always good to have a goal. There was no market today but I thought I just wanted to see it and start getting my bearings on the area beyond Aix. I took the back roads as I wanted to see what there was to discover along the way. I drove through many vineyards. The vines were bare and like everywhere in winter, everything was still. As I got just beyond Venelles, I turned a corner and within a second I had a magnificent view of the Luberon mountains. In the distance, I could see snow! This was a beautiful surprise. This is the fun of jumping in the car and just driving. I love moments like this. I tried to drive down a couple of side roads and here I came across a farm that had horses running around. It was so quiet. Not a sound and the air was fresh. What a life it must be to live here.

A drive in the country is always a good idea. Especially in Provence. I often find that when you least expect it, you are hit by yet another stunning view.
