More Covid Testing

Like everywhere, Covid has returned with a vengeance. We have been testing non-stop.

After getting through the holidays safely, we returned to our normal lives and I was feeling very comfortable with everything. I have had the booster shot and I managed to get Pia a shot, as well. She isn’t quite 18 but they didn’t even question it when we went in and asked if she could get boosted. Relief!

Pia went back to school and I started meeting up with friends that I hadn’t seen since before Christmas. Everything was going smoothly until 2 weekends ago. Pia was out with her friends and I was out with mine. We had so much fun and it was just great seeing everyone again. Well, on Sunday of that weekend, we received an email from school saying that there were a couple of positive cases in Pia’s class and to please have your children tested. The unvaccinated kids were not allowed to go to school if they’d been in certain classes and could only return after a few days and a negative PCR test. The vaccinated needed to show their QR code when they entered school. From that day forward, we have had an email every day from school with at least 2 more positive cases in Pia’s grade. Her closest friends all have it and she’s been feeling very lonely at school. Not only that, but she is having to test every 2 days to confirm that she is not positive, as well. It has been a huge hassle but the good news is that, so far, there hasn’t been a positive result.

As for me, I found out early last week that 3 of the people that were out on Saturday night had also tested positive for Covid. So, I have also been going to the pharmacy to be tested. Luckily, negative each time.

The last 10 days have put us back into the mode that we were in last year. I’m finding myself saying no to any invitations and I don’t want Pia out doing anything. Uggh!

A lot of people here are saying that we’re all going to get it. With this attitude I think that people have let their guard down. Even though they are saying milder symptoms, I still don’t want to get it and I even have a friend that is triple vaxed, got it and has been very ill with Covid.

I am hoping that this week will see the end of the latest wave and that if we make it until the weekend that perhaps we are out of the woods. It feels as if this virus will not give up.
